My sister and Cousin went to this place about a week before I went and I heard nothing but good comments regarding it, upon asking various questions about the location I recalled having been there about 10 years or so before. Despite most of my family except for my grandmother having said we never went there before.
Regardless, coming from panama city, this seemed a tad out of the way, but our local spring has seen better days. Upon arriving we were greeted nicely by the people working there. We bought our canoe and then loaded into the van to take us to where the canoe trip begins (it ends in the place where you paid) you begin the trip like most, paddling down a creek, and observing the nature, There is not much to speak of for land based animals but the occasional large fish, turtles, birds and a snake or two are not out of the question.
Upon arriving at the first big stop, Cyprus Spring I notice there are a lot of people around but not too many to make it no fun. we stayed and took some pictures swam but it slowly lost it's appeal. we paddled in and out of various areas finding paths and other things on the way to go through. it was a long, relatively eventless paddle to the water park, but enjoyable none the less, upon arriving at our final stop we were helped out of the water and given armbands for the "waterpark" it was not a big budget park like you would see at Places like Disney, Wild Adventures and even small parks like Shipwreck Island, but it was well built and very interesting there was a slide made from wood, and treated in a manner that allowed it to become fairly slippery, on that same platform there was also two outcrops to swing from, a lower one and one that is higher up. About 10 feet away there is a diving board as well, and as far as I can tell, no one has gotten hurt to my knowledge. Recently they have put signs regarding Safety and Rules applying to the slide and swing. along with a sign stating there was no lifeguard on duty, but there were at least two (my sister and her Boyfriend) present the day I went of course they were not "on duty".all in all it was fun and worth the money.
I enjoyed my trip of course by the end of the day I was tired, burned and I wanted to get home so even if I wanted to stay I simply couldn't and the day had to come to an end.
The beautiful clear springs, combined with the natural and man made amusement make it a fun stop if you are willing to burn off some energy and have a few hours to kill.
